So often when people try to lose weight they concentrate on counting calories and completely forget to start exercising more. If you want to give your body a workout, you should really think about the following:-
Before you groan at the thought of exercising for up to an hour everyday, please realize that there are plenty of things that count as exercise and you might not even realize it. For instance if you play golf you could carry the clubs instead of using a golf cart.
All you have to do is think of some activities you enjoy and do them for about an hour. So although going to the gym is excellent there must be other activities that you enjoy too. If you enjoy the activities then there's more chance you'll stick to it.
Dancing can be a wonderful way of getting fit and is also great fun. You'll even have the chance to socialize and make new friends. There are so many dance classes you could join including ballroom dancing, salsa and line dancing.
Walking is another great way to rid your body of unwanted pounds because it's very gentle so even if you're not used to exercising it should be OK for you. Just make sure you wear comfy shoes with good support. Over time you can make your walking more tiring by walking faster, walking uphill and wearing ankle weights.
If you would rather try some more traditional exercise but are short on time then you should research compound exercises. Basically this just means you're exercising more than one muscle group at a time. So instead of doing lots and lots of individual (isolated) exercises, you can just do a few compound exercised and this will work out your whole body.
Examples of compound exercises include press-ups, tricep dips, lunges. These exercises are excellent for building muscle quickly which is great because muscle burns up more calories than fat does.
Interval training is also popular for weight loss and is great if you like some variety. Essentially you do some fast or hard exercises followed by a slow and stead exercise. As an example you could jog for a while and then walk When you do this type of training it will last for 10 to 20 minutes.
It's a little bit like climbing some stairs, followed by climbing down them again. When you're going up the stairs you'll find it difficult however going back down will be easy.
Exercise can be as difficult or as fun as you like. What's important is that you give it a go.
