Even though each person's response to a variety of foods is different from others, there are foods that are usually being avoided. Dishes that have raw onions, cinnamon as well as red and other hot peppers are always inadvisable to include in the diet. However, if you can stay away from spicy foods, a cup of curd is very helpful. Curd has a balancing effect on the chilies.

In vegetables, mashed potatoes, French fries, and raw onions not recommended to include in your diet. When thinking about which meats to avoid, Buffalo wings, chicken nuggets, marbled sirloin and ground beef should be in your list. When preparing meats, try to eliminate most, if possible all fats and cholesterol. As much as possible, you should always try not to use too much oil in frying your meats. In dairy products, you should keep away from sour cream, milk shake, ice creams and regular cottage cheese. Only choose the ones that are low in fat or better yet fat free.

Everyone knows that too much alcohol is bad for your health. This is especially true when you have acid reflux symptoms. In picking out beverages, sodas, teas and liquors should be avoided as they can easily set off your acid reflux. Most sweets and desserts are bad for your acid reflux condition. Examples are high fat butter cookies, brownies and doughnuts. Chocolates, corn chips as well as potato chips should also be avoided.
